Innovations Group Logo
Designed to represent the potential commercialized value of research at the University of Toronto.
The Innovations Group is tasked with commercializing U of T Research projects on a project-by-project basis, focused on real world criteria, need and opportunity.
Symbolism: The acorn, or oak nut, is the fruit of the oak tree. The oak tree is a focal point of the U of T coat of arms. The acorn is reminiscent of tangible ideas (products, services, processes, beliefs) that come from a fertile tree - where U of T is the tree. Beyond being the core seed for a new oak tree, acorns are consumed or cached by animals and in several cultures they are a food source. The acorn can itself become an oak tree just as research can become fully commercialized businesses.
